Google Wave invites up for grabs

Yahoo! I finally received my Google Wave (Preview) invite. It was ba da bing ba da boom, well almost, to set it up and get it running. The only hiccup was that I had to install Google Chrome Frame, an open source plug-in that brings HTML5 and other open web technologies to get it running on my browser, Internet Explorer 8.

For those unfamiliar with Google Wave, it is an “online tool for real-time communication and collaboration. A wave can be both a conversation and a document where people can discuss and work together using richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more” and was developed by the Sydney Australia based Google team.

Google Wave Invite

Now, with Christmas just a stone’s throw away, I’m happy to say, “As part of my invite to Google Wave, I am allowed to give away 20 Google Wave invites. To be fair and equitable, I’m offering the remaining 19 invites only to people listed in my Blogroll. My apologies if I offend anyone by doing this.

So, if you’re interested just send me an email (see my address in the image above) with your email address, preferably a Gmail address, so I can add you to my list.

Note from the Google Team: “Invitations will not be set immediately. We have a lot of stamps to lick.” Another thing worth mentioning is that you must hold a Google account.

Why did I want a Google Wave invite? A: In for a penny, in for a pound, I say, in my quest to spread the word to locate my St Vincent’s Hospital Darlinghurst Classmates of August 1975 and to make it even more easier to converse with my friends. Well, it’s worth trying isn’t it?

To be continued…

I see that you're a registered nurse. My husband is trying to get into school here in the U.S. to become a registered nurse.

He's talked to several other male nurses who he's crossed paths with and all boast about their chosen field of nursing. My husband is starting out a little later in life though and while he's excited, he's a little (or a lot) apprehensive, partially because of his age.

I'm glad I found (fell into) your blog. I hope you won't mind if I forward him the link. I think he may enjoy reading about your experiences.

Hi Peter,

I happened to fall into your blog and see that you got a Google Wave invite. How did you get a Google Wave invite just today or yesterday? Did you get an invite or did you receive it from Google?

I sent you an e-mail request for a charity invite. I would be grateful to have one.

Thank you for the consideration.

Beth

Okay, Peter, I'll give it a whirl. Although I have little time for chatting and such, this will make it easier to keep in touch with my dear blogging friends.

Thanks for the invite! I'm honored that you asked me. :)

Email addy under separate cover!

Peter -- How long is the learning curve for Wave?

Peter 8/11/09 8:24 PM

Hi MM! It's never too late to take up nursing and I know of many nurses that are still working well into the 60's. How's that?

Things have changed since I studied to be a nurse. Mine was hospital based and we were paid from the word go! Not like the new grads that have to get job to support themselves during their studies.

Your husband will have the added advantage of being a mature student with many life experiences that will be a major plus when he takes it up.

I just hope your husband's back is in full working order before he starts! I look forward to your husband popping in and having a chat every now and then!

Enjoy your invite and hope to see you there soon.

Take Care,
Peter

Hi Allen. My condolences on the loss of your brother. Your latest post was indeed a great tribute to him. Enjoy your invite and I hope to see you there real soon!

Hi Lynda! Good to see you on Google wave. All that's left to do, for the both of us, is to learn how to use it properly and to good effect!

Peter

Hi Kathy! Going on what I have read about wave and from what I have done on it so far, it shouldn't be all that hard to master.

Considering what you have done with Wordpress etc, you will not find it hard at all to get it up and running, smoothly and without too many hiccups.

Take Care,
Peter
