Prelude to a father’s wedding speech - in words and images.
For a start, welcoming a prospective daughter-in-law into your family doesn't commence from the day they become betrothed to your son. It starts way before and the sooner the better to make her feel at home and at ease. Failing that will have you classed as an
outlaw
and nobody wants that.
Impressed from day one with her love and devotion to our son, reciprocated in kind, nothing was going to get in her way, no matter
how far she had to travel
to reunite with the apple of her eye.
After settling down in the top end of Australia together, they announced their
engagement
; and with that, cries of “It's about bloody time!” reverberated from Sydney to Townsville, several times over. On a side issue, with one almost down, we wait impatiently with baited breath for other fair ladies to capture the hearts of our other two sons. Any takers?
It's fair to say that parents have a fair idea what their son's
love of their life
is like well before the big day, and in our case, our soon to be daughter-in-law, the daughter I never had, is the best thing since sliced bread, not only for our son but us as well.
Now one has to ask what does the soon to be bride see in our son? Is it his childish good looks and behaviour, his noteworthy stamina in getting things finally done,
his newsworthy fishing talents
and stories about the one that got away, his stoic loyalty to friends and the Rugby League team, the Sydney Roosters, his excellent craftsmanship as an electrician or is it his tender and loving ways?
What do we see in our soon to be daughter-in-law? This fair lady is everything we'd hoped for and much, much more. Yes, I'd have to say they broke the mould when they made this one, with the icing on the cake a
heaven sent blessing.
And soon there will be another Mr & Mrs McCartney! We wish them well and may they have an eternity of love, peace and harmony together.

Hi Peter,
"On a side issue, with one almost down, we wait impatiently with baited breath for other fair ladies to capture the hearts of our other two sons. Any takers?" - LOL LOL LOL why, Peter...are you putting your sons on the market? I have some single cousins in need of a husband; do you reckon they'd be interested? lol...
Aaah, this post is delightful! Your daughter-in-law (yes, we may consider her as such already) is very lucky to belong to your family; she is blessed! And, from what you are saying, so are you!
Now, you do realise that you have just made yourself the most eligible father-in-law in the market, don't you? Every girl will want to belong to the McCartney Clan :D!
I wish the future Mr. & Mrs. McCartney all the happiness in the world; much Love and Peace! Hip hip, Hurray! Hip hip, Hurray!
Cheers
And your empire expands... one son at a time. :)
You're a lucky man to have such wonderful people in your life. But you don't need me to tell you that, do you?
You sound blessed. I wish I felt the same way about my future son-in-law.
Hi Max! If only long distance relationships worked! Mind you, I'll let them know about your offer.
Yes, you're right, we are all indeed very lucky, and, may it continue!
Take Care,
Peter
Hi Moonshadow and thank you! Yes, our empire is ready to expand, one by one, son by son!
Take Care,
Peter
Hi Rose and thank you, too! As for your future son-in-law, perhaps we can send him off to visit the "World's Strictest Parents?"
Take Care,
Peter
Peter,
LOL Well, long distance relationships can work (I know of a few successful cases) but it is not for everybody for it is extremely difficult, I guess.
LOL LOL tell them and they will think you have gone bonkers.
"Yes, you're right, we are all indeed very lucky, and, may it continue!"
Amen to that!
Have a fantastic weekend!
Hi Max! They already know that I'm bonkers! BTW: When visiting my site, did the images pop up for you when you passed your cursor over the links? Just wanted to know if it worked for you.
Take Care,
Peter
Peter,
LOL I see...then, go ahead and tell them lol.
Yes, the images popped right up when I passed the cursor over them (and I tried again, just now and it still works): did you use Windows Live writer?
Cheers
Hi Max! Thanks for getting back to me. Good to see it working on the other side of the world. It's a shame it doesn't work in rss feeds etc!
I use WLW but this trick was done using a translucent slideshow script from the site, Dynamic Drive. I had to play around with it a fair bit to get it to do what I wanted.
Thanks again! Time to let you go and have dinner! Time here is 0253hrs! Off to bed I go!
Take Care,
Peter
If we can send a man to the moon why can't I send my future son-in-law there.
Hi Rose! If Richard Branson has his way you might be able to!
Take Care,
Peter
Peter, congratulations to happy couple, and to the whole family. Is this Emmi on the picture hidden between the words? If it is, then I can see so much of you in her! Anna :)
Hi Anna! That's a double whammy in comments from you and I must say, very appreciated, so thank you.
Yes, that's Emmi's first walk caught on video, not bad, hey! You see so much of Emmi in me? Must be the way shes walking, as I've broken a bone in my leg!
Take Care,
Peter
